How to set up auto-forwarding for your Gmail users for Google Workspace
Using GAT+ an admin can set up auto-forwarding from one Gmail address to another.
Set Email auto-forwarding
This feature requires Unlock
Open GAT+ and navigate to Users audit
Click on the Email info tab and search for the user you want to set up auto-forward to.
This is the account that will have auto-forwarding enabled in their Gmail account.
When the account is found, select, and click on the arrow under Actions. Select Set auto-forwarding
A new pop-up window will be displayed.
In Forward to pick the email of the user whom the emails will be auto-forwarded to
In the original recipient, the mailbox selects what will happen with the original user inbox.
- No changes – Keep emails in the inbox
- Mark emails as read – Emails will be marked as Read and kept in the inbox
- Archive emails – Emails will be archived and kept
- Delete emails – The emails will be forwarded to the additional email, and deleted from the original recipient inbox.
Click on Send request for your Security officer approval.
The Security officer will receive an email as above, the request can be seen in the Security officer section of GAT+
When the request is approved, the auto-forwarding will be enabled
Check the progress in GAT+, search for the user in the Email info tab
Note: If you request another auto-forwarding for the same acount the current account for auto-forwarding will be replaced.
When the original recipient receives an email, it will be automatically forwarded to the user added as an auto-forward recipient
The auto-forward can also be removed from GAT+
Find the User whose auto-forward to you want to remove click on the option under Actions and click Delete auto-forwarding
A pop-up window will be displayed click Yes
This does not require approval by the Security officer, refresh the page and the Auto-forwarding for this user will no longer be available.
