GAT+ allows admin to copy multiple Files and Folders and place them in other user’s “Drive”.
Note: This feature requires Unlock
Due to Google API limits, the Copy feature does NOT work on Shared Drives
Find Files/Folders to Copy
Navigate to GAT+ → Drive audit → Apply custom filter → Search for Files and Folders to Copy
Copy Files or Folders
When Files/Folders are found, click on File operations → Selected file copy
A pop-up window with details will be displayed
Note: Externally owned files can ONLY be copied if a local user has EDIT rights to the File.
Files shared ‘Read Only’ can not be copied. This is a Google restriction
There is an option to preserve the original create date – click on the checkmark to enable or “?” to see the tooltip.
Click on Next to proceed
A new window will be displayed. Select the user where the copied files will be placed into.
Note: We recommend choosing specific folder where you place the copied files and folders
As if they are in user’s Drive main folder it might be hard to navigate and see the exact copied files.
Advanced mode: Allow you to manually set the Parent Folder ID, instead of the tree below.
Select the Folder where the Copy will be added into.
Security officer approval
Click on “Send request” to get approval from the Security officer of your domain. They will receive an email with details for approval.
The progress can be tracked in the Admin log.
As a result, the files and folders that are selected will be copied and moved into the destination folder and they will be owned by the different users.
You can view how to copy externally owned folders here
